Movie Star by Lizzie Pepper

I received an ARC digital copy of this book through NetGallery.com in exchange for my fair and honest review.

HOLLYWOOD FLUFF!!! Okay, so this is a completely fictional tale of a celebrity marriage with a scary cult-like church looming in the background and a messy divorce, but it’s fun to delve deep into the Hollywood lifestyle and read nothing of substance for a little while. Is it the true tale of “TomKat?” Hardly – they don’t even mention the dreamy David Beckam type athlete and his wife as the power couple’s best friends so take everything you read in this novel with a grain of salt. One of the best books for Summer 2015 if you’re addicted to tabloid rags, celebrity gossip and all things E!

What I loved: It’s fluff at its finest – what’s not to love? Seriously – I loved how you fall in and out of love with the main characters as the story progresses. Even though you can see the ending coming from a mile away, it’s a delightful journey getting there.

What I didn’t love: Bringing up Mr. Hooper from Sesame Street’s demise made me sad because it made me remember the episode when I was a kid. (Okay, I was 11 and we didn’t have cable back then).

What I learned: Nothing is as perfect as it seems.

Overall Grade: A-
