Skinny Bitch Gets Hitched
VEGAN FLUFF!! Seriously, after reading Inside the O'Briens, I needed something light, fluffy, and mindless - kind of cotton candy for my reading mind. This book, albeit predictable, is the 2014 sequel to Skinny Bitch in Love by Kim Barnouin. SBGH is a continuation of SBIL with Clementine & Zach progressing in their relationship
(can't you get that from the title alone?).
What I Loved: It had some quirky plot twists that I didn't see coming but I would have liked a little more background/exploration of instead of the brief glossing over that some of the supporting roles received. The main characters are pretty full of life and description and do seem "real". Some of the vegan food that Clementine creates sound pretty good to a carnivore like me and if Clementine's No Crap Cafe existed where I live, I would give it a try.
What I Didn't Love: Even though this is a true "Fluff" book, the pace within the story is reminiscent of a 30 minute sitcom. Everything was wrapped up neatly in a shiny, red bow at the end of the story. I didn't see a lot of personal growth from the main characters but more growth in the supporting cast. And in the end, everyone gets exactly what they wanted - but isn't that what Fluff is about?
What I Learned: I would have loved to have a "wedding" checklist like the one that Clementine receives from Zach's Aunt Jocelyn before I married my love. Although I would have answered all the questions the same and still married him, it would have been great to think about those questions before the big day.
