Thank you to NetGalley.com and to the publisher for the ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Mary Dell has been one of my favorite characters since Marie Bostwick introduced her as a side character almost 8 years ago. In my mind, I picture her as a tall Dolly Parton with Howard as Edward Barbanell and I’ve always found them to be a delight when they appear in the Cobblestone Court books as well as Between Heaven and Texas. Seeing them come alive was like visiting with family you adore even though it feels like the last time you will sit a spell and chat.

What I loved: I love that Howard gets to be on his own - it’s a testament to how well Mary Dell raised him and that has the confidence to use his talents for color and design to benefit the DS community. I only wish Down Home Fabrics was real.

What I didn’t love: I would have loved a separate novel for Holly instead of the epilogue. While it was painfully obvious what was going to happen between them, I would have preferred to see some of it through and not had the 16 month leap into the future.

What I learned: I wish I quilted, but I’m deeply afraid of sewing machines..

Overall Grade: B+
