Reminiscent of her earlier works (I’m immediately drawn to compare it to “Family Album”) it is what I would call a surface book. Nothing ever goes too deep with any of the characters even though they have their tragic events in their lives. Since nothing is ever written it in the first person, sometimes it feels like there is an invisible narrator floating over each character bringing an update on a character’s life before moving on to the next one.

What I loved: I finished a Danielle Steel book (its been happening a few more times lately) which seems like a victory in itself. I’ve said it before – either she has a ghostwriter /unnamed partner (who I think I like!) or she’s just modernizing and updating some previously unpublished materials. How else can you account for 7 books to be released between January 2016 and January 2017?

What I didn’t love: Little things – ugh! How does Abby not have a key to her childhood home? How fast does someone’s hair grow before a wedding? How the heck did Abby move Charlie?

What I learned: Nine years is probably to long to have the same roommates..

Overall Grade: B-
